Don’t Let Refractive Errors Define Your Work or Hobbies

Normal glasses bring crisp vision into the world for millions of Americans every year. However, they have their limitations; when it comes to certain sports, outdoor performance or manual labor, standard prescription lenses can let you down.

At The Eye Care Team, we commit to helping design custom eyewear which is uniquely tailored to your specific needs. If it’s a contact sport, you need glasses which won’t break during a collision; outdoor sports people need to be able to see through the rain- the list goes on and on, and we’re there to help every step of the way.

Speciality Eyewear Is Handled On a Case-By-Case Basis

Following a thorough eye exam to map out your precise visual correction needs, we’ll have a long conversation about what you need from your eyewear. Key characteristics may include:

  • Not slipping off during violent motion
  • Being shatterproof
  • Specific ergonomic shape
  • Hydrophobic (water repellent) lenses

Or a hundred other, completely different things. The point is this: we understand that by abandoning any “one size fits all” philosophy, we can bring higher quality eye care to more people than ever before.

Specialized Eyewear Is a Necessity For Many Individuals and Industries

These are designed to reduce the impact of glare and harsh lighting on your driving. By polarizing light or using an anti-glare coating, these bright lights are dulled and the general contrast of the road is improved, helping you more easily distinguish obstacles or pedestrians.

Since digital eye strain has become prolific in recent years, special glasses are being produced which can help your eyes in one of two ways:

  • Reduction of focusing strain by using a prescription which is optimized for your eyes and the distance at which your screen sits from your eyes. This should make focusing easier and make you more productive and less tired at work.
  • Absorption of blue light which has been shown as potentially harmful to the short and long-term health of our eyes. This light is close to ultraviolet, and its absorption can help our eyes stay healthy despite consuming a large number of hours before a screen.

With around 90% of workplace eye injuries considered preventable, it’s no surprise that companies are always looking for novel, well-designed eyewear, especially in industries such as manufacturing, metal or woodworking and chemical handling.

For trades which require custom eyewear to safely and adequately complete their role at work (such as welders), we can help with the design and implementation. Just speak to us about your needs, and we’ll see what we can do to help!
